Culinary Medicine for Heart Health: Virtual Cooking Classes
Culinary Medicine for Heart Health: Virtual Cooking Classes
AdventHealth Shawnee Mission CLASS
Multiple dates between February 11, 2021 and February 25, 2021
THIS EVENT IS 100% FREE!

In this three-week culinary medicine series, you will be guided by dietitian/chef Lisa Markley on how to prepare a variety of delicious recipes targeted at improving heart health. Together, we will explore practical, yet flavorful ways to add vital vegetables and fruits, fiber-rich beans and whole grains, anti-inflammatory fats, and tasty herbs and spices into your cooking repertoire. You’ll gain cooking confidence and nutrition know-how for helping to manage your heart health in your kitchen.

  • Registration fee is per household/device. You may attend individual classes in the series or sign up for all three classes at a reduced rate.
  • Participants are encouraged to cook along during this interactive, virtual class.
  • Recipes, ingredients, and supply lists will be emailed several days in advance to each participant so they can be prepared for each session.
  • A Zoom link will be emailed to participants at time of registration and also on the day of class.
  • The health-supportive recipes will be primarily plant-based, low in sodium, refined white sugars, and saturated fat. They are also gluten-free friendly, if that is a dietary concern of yours. If you have any food allergies/sensitivities or other specific dietary concerns, please contact instructor for more information about the recipes -- variations may be able to be suggested.
